Barbera is one of the first grapes I worked with as an amateur winemaker nearly thirty years ago.
It is an easy wine that pairs with almost any meal, and is a wine that nearly makes itself. And I still enjoy making it.
Colin Morrell, owner of Lonesome Spring Ranch, hasn't found a grape he can’t grow well. He did a wonderful with this Italian grape variety.
Barbera from the 2012 vintage exhibits attractive ripe aromas of red berries, nutmeg, orange peel, and cherry. Crisp Italian plum, nuts, and August blackberries dominate the palate. Lingering toasty notes and tight-grained tannins underlie a lengthy finish of chocolate and cinnamon.
